Office 2000 Upgrade Patch

Users of Version 3 of SteamTab, SteamTab Duo or SteamTab Quad can upgrade their product to Microsoft's Excel 2000 by downloading and installing the following patch. If you have not yet upgraded to Office 2000, you can still download and install the upgrade patch as it is fully compatible with Excel 95, 97 and 2000.

Products Affected

The following products are affected:

• SteamTab V3 for Excel 95/97
• SteamTab Duo V3 for Excel 95/97
• SteamTab Quad V3 for Excel 95/97

The Problem

When you use SteamTab, SteamTab Duo or SteamTab Quad with Excel 2000, the software may issue a warning that the SteamTab product may not be compatible with Excel 2000 and that you should contact ChemicaLogic. Since the publication of Excel 2000, we have conducted extensive validation tests to ensure that SteamTab, SteamTab Duo and SteamTab Quad are fully compatible with Excel 2000. To remove this warning message, please download and install the patch listed below.

The Solution

Download and install the following file. See the Installation instructions on how to correctly install the file. Note that the filename is the same for all SteamTab products - so please make sure that you download the correct SteamTab product file.

To download the file, right-click on the product name bellow and select "Save file as..." or "Save link as..." and save the file on your Desktop.

• SteamTab V3 for Excel 95/97/2000/XP
  (Filename: SteamTab.xla Size: 139 KB. Date: December 15, 1999).
• SteamTab Duo V3 for Excel 95/97/2000/XP
  (Filename: SteamTab.xla Size: 150 KB. Date: December 15, 1999).
• SteamTab Quad V3 for Excel 95/97/2000/XP
  (Filename: SteamTab.xla Size: 195 KB. Date: December 15, 1999).

 

Installation Instructions

Assuming that you have saved the downloaded file as "SteamTab.xla" on you desktop, use the following steps to install the file:

1. If Excel is running, Close and Exit from Excel.
2. Copy the downloaded file "SteamTab.xla" into the Excel library directory, replacing the older file. The Excel library directory is usually in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Library
3. Start Excel and from the Tools menu, select the SteamTab pop-menu and click on "About SteamTab". If the version number is 3.0.3 then the patch has been successfully applied.
